The warmest of welcomes awaits you on the English Riviera, South Devon’s Beautiful Bay. Surrounded by stunning coast and countryside, the towns of Torquay, Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixham offer fantastic all year round holidays for everyone, from couples to families, who want their holiday pound to go that little bit further.
The English Riviera may be most famous for its award winning beaches and exotic palm trees, but it has much more to offer than just seaside holidays. The English Riviera has more attractions than any other resort in the UK and is also a Global Geopark. Getting out on the water is what our visitors love to do, and there is a great selection of boat trips and tasty local food and fresh fish to enjoy. Torquay is the birthplace of crime writer Agatha Christie, and the whole resort is the location for a packed programme of all year events and festivals including the annual Agatha Christie Festival.
The main feature of Torquay is its waterside, with a palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, a lively harbour and an international marina. This superb setting, with its illuminated bridge, is the ideal backdrop for enjoying a romantic meal, relaxed drink or gentle stroll. Choose from a wide selection of cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops as well as a host of attractions to suit all ages, including the Princess Theatre and International Riviera Centre.
Within minutes of Torquay town centre there are beautiful beaches easily reached by foot, road or sea. Most of these beaches are linked by the South West Coast Path, which stretches from the south side of Brixham to Maidencombe and offers excellent walking paths with spectacular sea views.
Although Torquay is much more than the classic seaside resort it is known for, the emphasis is still very much on family holidays. There is lots to keep children entertained from go karting, theme parks and steam railways to swimming, meeting the local wildlife or playing on one of the many sandy beaches.
